Transparency

1. Who we are

SpiritSafe is made by an indie developer — a single person, not a corporation, not a data broker, not a venture-backed startup. There's no team of analysts looking at your collection, no investors to grow revenue for at your expense. If something in the app is broken, weird, or seems off, it's genuinely useful to hear about it directly at spiritsafesoftware@gmail.com.

2. What data we collect

SpiritSafe stores your data in Firestore (Google's database) under a private, per-user record. Specifically:

• Your bottles — names, distilleries, spirit types, ABV, volume, fill levels, purchase price/currency, and any notes you write
• Commitments / wishlist — bottles you're planning to buy and any targets you set for them
• Storage locations — names of the shelves, cabinets, or rooms you use to organise your collection
• Tasting notes — any flavour notes or reviews you write against a bottle
• Preferences — sort order, units (ml/oz), display currency, and other in-app settings
• Badges — which of the app's 107 collection badges you've unlocked, computed from your own bottle data
• Photos — any photos you attach to a bottle, stored in Firebase Storage
• Account info — via Firebase Auth: your email address, or if you sign in with Google or Apple, the identifier and email those providers give us

That's it. We don't run analytics SDKs that profile you, and we don't collect your precise location.

3. Who can see your data

Database security rules scope every read and write to your own authenticated account — not other users, and not us browsing through a dashboard. In practice:

• You can see your own data, on any device you're signed into
• Firebase / Google, as our infrastructure provider, hosts the data on our behalf — the same way any app built on cloud infrastructure works
• RevenueCat (coming soon) will handle subscription status only — it never sees your bottle collection, just whether your subscription is active

We don't sell your data, share it with data brokers, or hand it to anyone for marketing purposes.

4. No ads, ever

SpiritSafe doesn't run ads and never will. There's no ad SDK in the app, no ad network we share data with, and no profiling of users to sell to advertisers. If you ever see an ad in SpiritSafe, something has gone very wrong — please email us immediately.

5. Subscription model

SpiritSafe requires a subscription. This isn't a growth-hacking decision — running the cloud database, auth, and photo storage behind your collection costs real money per user, and a subscription is what keeps that sustainable without turning to ads or selling data. Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) as in-app purchases, or via RevenueCat, which manages subscription state across platforms. We never see your card number, billing address, or any other payment detail — that stays entirely between you and Apple/Google.

6. Exchange rates

If you track bottles in more than one currency, SpiritSafe fetches daily exchange rates from the Frankfurter API, a free public feed of European Central Bank reference rates. This is a one-way, anonymous request for exchange rate numbers — no personal data, bottle data, or identifiers are sent to Frankfurter, and the rates are cached on your device so this happens at most once a day.

7. Your rights

You're in control of your data at any time:

• Export — your collection can be exported (e.g. as CSV) from within the app
• Delete — request full account and data deletion any time via our Account Deletion page
• Ask questions — email spiritsafesoftware@gmail.com with anything you're unsure about

8. Open about changes

If anything material changes about how SpiritSafe handles data — a new third-party service, a new data type we collect, anything that affects what's written on this page — we'll update this page and the Privacy Policy at the same time. This is a living document, not a one-time disclosure.
